    General

    The directional valve of the type M-.SED is a direct operated directional seat valve with solenoid actuation. It controls the start, stop and direction of flow and mainly consists of a housing (1), the solenoid (2), the valve seats (7) and (11) as well as of the closing element (4).

    The manual override (6) allows for the switching of the valve without solenoid energization.

    Basic principle

    The initial position of the valve (normally open “UK” or normally closed “CK”) is determined by the arrangement of the spring (5). The chamber (3) behind the closing element (4) is connected to port P and sealed against port

    T. Thus, the valve is pressure-compensated in relation to the actuating forces (solenoid and spring).

    With the special closing element (4), ports P, A and T can be loaded with the maximum operating pressure (350 bar) and the flow can be directed into both directions (see symbols)!

    In the initial position, the closing element (4) is pressed onto the seat (11) by the spring (5), in spool position, it is pressed onto the seat (7) by the solenoid (2). The flow is blocked in a leak-free manner.

    With a sandwich plate, the Plus-1 plate, under the 3/2 directional seat valve, the function of a 4/2 directional seat valve is achieved.

     

    Function of the Plus-1 plate

    • Initial position:

    The main valve is not operated. The spring (5) holds the closing element (4) on the seat (11). Port P is blocked and A is connected to T. Apart from that, one control line is connected from A to the large area of the control spool (8), which is thus unloaded to the tank. The pressure applied via P now pushes the ball (9) onto the seat (10). Now, P is connected to B, and A to T.

    • Transition position:

    Upon actuation of the main valve, the closing element (4) is shifted against the spring (5) and pressed onto the seat (7). During this, port T is blocked, while P, A, and B are briefly connected to each other.

    • Switching position:

    P is connected to A. Since the pump pressure acts via A on the large area of the control spool (8), the ball (9) is pressed onto the seat (12). Thus, B is connected to T, and P to A. The ball (9) in the Plus-1 plate has a “positive spool overlap”.

    After switching off the electromagnet (2), the control spool (3) is pushed back to the middle or initial position (except for valve with detent “OF” and valve without spring type “O”).

    An auxiliary actuation (5) enables the valve to be switched manually without magnet supply.

    The hydraulic system must be properly vented to ensure proper function.

    The directional valves basically consist of the housing (1), one or two solenoids (2), the control spool (3), and one or two return springs (4). In the de-energized condition, control spool (3) is held in the central position or in the initial position by the return springs (4). The control spool (3) is actuated by wet-pin solenoids (2).

    To ensure proper functioning, make sure that the pressure chamber of the solenoid is filled with oil!

    The force of the solenoid (2) acts via the plunger (5) on the control spool (3) and pushes the latter from its rest position to the required end position. In this way, the required direction of flow according to the symbol is released. After de-excitation of the solenoid (2), the return spring (4) pushes the control spool (3) back to its rest position.

    The manual override (6) allows control spool (3) to be moved without solenoid energization.

    Type WEH

    The valve type WEH is a directional spool valve with electro-hydraulic actuation. It controls the start, stop and direction of a flow. The directional valve basically consists of the main valve with housing (1), the main control spool (2), one or two return springs (3.1) and (3.2), as well as the pilot control valve (4) with one or two solenoids “a” (5.1) and/or “b” (5.2).

    For unobjectionable functioning, the hydraulic system has to be bled properly.

    For valves with 3 spool positions, the main control spool (2) in the main valve is held in zero position or initial position by means of two springs, for valves with 2 spool positions by pressurization and spring. In the initial position, the two spring chambers (6) and (8) are connected with the tank in a depressurized form via the pilot control valve (4). Via the control line (7), the pilot control valve is supplied with pilot oil. Supply can be implemented internally or externally (externally via port X). Upon actuation of the pilot control valve, e.g. solenoid “a”, the pilot control spool (10) is moved to the left and thus, the spring chamber (8) is pressurized with pilot pressure. The spring chamber (6) remains depressurized. The pilot pressure acts on the left side of the main control spool (2) and moves it against the spring (3.1). This connects port P with B and A with T in the main valve.

    On switching off of solenoid, the pilot control spool (10) returns to its initial position (except impulse spool). The spring chamber (8) is unloaded to the tank. The pilot oil return is implemented internally (via channel T) or externally (via channel Y). An optional manual override (9) allows for moving of the pilot control spool (10) without solenoid energization.
